On Rhythm
Rhythm (n): movement, fluctuation, or variation marked by the regular recurrence or natural flow of related elements; a regularly recurrent quantitative change in a variable biological process.
On Rhythm.
Nature moves in rhythm. Notice the tides, the circadian rhythm of sleep-wake cycles, migratory birds, or the flow state that comes from a runner’s high. Notice the flowers, how they patiently observe the shortening or lengthening of daylight, knowing exactly when to bloom. Notice the animals how they seek their resting place before surrendering to an inevitable truth—the cycle of birth and death—the rhythm of life.
Rhythm is fundamental to wellness, wellbeing, and adaptation. It is influencing us in ways we can’t (or can) imagine. Rhythm determines ecological systems; internal ones as well. Through breath work, rhythm can influence human perception. It is a powerful force for meaningful and lasting change.
